In this course students are taught the very basics of robotics. Although robotics might seem a bit complicated to start with, but with the help of Mindstorms, a Lego based educational kit, students have the ability to work with parts they have already seen and assembled, and could obtain results in a very fast manner.

Not only is this course a good introduction to the next ones, it also acts a confidence booster where students feel like they could actually assemble and program fully functional robots just like the ones they see on TV! By the end of this level, students should have learned some basic mechanical concepts such as gearing, rotational and translational motion, wheel mechanisms, and task oriented design. On the programmable side, students learn the basics operation principals of sensors, and actuators. They also learn about program flow in processors, in addition to how flow breakers and conditional statements work.
